Whilst I was travelling to and from Puglia 
during the reconstruction of Trullo Adagio, I stayed at a very cheap, clean and friendly masseria by Costa Merlata (Masseria Refrigerio). With time on my hands I used to drive around, get lost, then come out somewhere I recognised. Exploring I think they call it!
The greenery between Ostuni and the Adriatic is one large Olive grove. Young trees are planted with old ones, very old ones! Some are known to be 1000 years old! (see tree above). The trees are pure sculptures. Some leave you perplexed… hollowed out by fire and yet still producing olives so worthy, that although low in productivity, still worth propping up with tufa bricks!
